A great way to stop emotional eating is to do the stress exercise. Basically take out a sheet of paper and a pen. Write out every stress, worry, fear, circumstance, event, person right now on your mind. Try to make a list of 15 items.
Once you finish making your list cross out every item on there that is outside of your personal boundary, things that you can’t control. You’ll find that you’ll cross out most of the items on the list. This is because we often worry and get stressed out about things we can’t control.
To stop binge eating you must eliminate all that unnecessary stress. This exercise is a great way to do it. Once you are done crossing out, you’ll find there are a few items on the list that you can control.
Pick the two most important items and come up with 3 action steps underneath each that you can do in the next 24-48 hours. Taking action is a great way to relief stress and stop binge eating.
