Stop Binge Eating Using Gratitude

There is a common tie between binge eating and depression. As a matter of fact a vital step of binge eating treatment is often treating depression.

In your efforts to stop binge eating you’ll experience two kinds of days. Some days you’ll wake up and be ready to take on another day. You’ll feel very motivated and easily stay on track with your binge eating treatment.

Other days you’ll wake up and feel down. You might not even feel like getting out of bed. Everything might feel like a drag and you might start wondering what’s the point? You might even feel discouraged to stop binge eating in general since you have tried and failed in the past.

On those days you must do the gratitude exercise. The gratitude exercise is a great way get out of the light depression. Here is how it works…

You take out a pen and piece of paper and make a list of everything you are grateful for. This might be challenging so here are some examples. Think of all the relationships in your life. Think of friends, family, and significant others. Start listing their names and things they’ve done for you that you feel great about.

Another thing you can think of is all the achievements and goals you have accomplished in the past 3-4 years. Those are also great things you should be thankful for.

Another thing is your health. If you don’t have a terminal illness or a permanent disability well then that’s another thing to be grateful for.

Try to make as big of a list as you can. Once you are done you’ll notice something very interesting. You’ll notice that you feel a sense of piece. Working on your binge eating treatment no longer feels like a chore.

You’ll feel so good that your efforts to stop binge eating will seem well worth it. You’ll be motivated to keep working on overcoming binge eating. You’ll feel like you got another great day ahead of you full of opportunities.

The gratitude exercise basically reminds you of all those things that you take for granted.
