How to stop binge eating? I’m asked this question often when others learn about my binge eating recovery. They want to know how I did it, they want all the secrets and the dirty little tricks to stop binge eating.
Well the truth is there aren’t really any secrets, in fact all I did was build some healthy habits. All those healthy habits basically worked together to keep me on track with my binge eating treatment.
A great habit to stop binge eating is to eat a healthy breakfast. When you eat a healthy breakfast you start your day off right. And since you’ve eaten a healthy breakfast the chances of you overeating later on in the day decrease. Why? Because you’ve already had a healthy meal and you’ll feel motivate to make healthy eating a trend.
An easy way to eat a healthy breakfast is by adding a serving of fresh fruits or vegetables to it. Work on slowly and gradually making your breakfast healthier. You’ll find thatt you’ll be motivated to eat healthy all day and to stop binge eating.
Planning what you’ll eat is a vital step in binge eating disorder treatment. You don’t need to have a complicated or complex food plan. Rather plan what you are going to eat before walking into your kitchen or a food restaurant.
Often you might go to the kitchen to grab a cup of water, yet you might see a food you like, and it entices you to eat even though you aren’t really hungry. Instead of doing this plan what you are going to have before walking into the kitchen.
If it’s for water, then go in grab your water and go back out. If it’s for a meal then think through what you have in your fridge and the foods you’ll grab. Grab those foods and walk out of the kitchen right away. This is a great way to avoid overeating.
