This post is Parts 6-7 of the 7 part series 7 Resources to Help You Stop Binge Eating…to get more tips on how to quickly stop overeating and start losing weight please subscribe to my free email newsletter here.
The remaining two resources have to do with you taking care of your mental and emotional state. While these two resources are extremely valuable, I decided to bundle them together because there very simple and quick to explain.
Resource #6 is maintaining a positive emotional state by listening to music.
This will help you stop binge eating and any type of emotional eating….
Listening to music might sound like a no-brainer. However I noticed that during times when I was binge eating I rarely listened to music. Also, during those times I often felt a little sad and depressed.
However during times when I was eating healthy and exercising and staying on track with everything else I noticed that I was listening to a lot of music.
It’s really very easy to explain, listening to music regularly helped me maintain a positive emotional state. Even on days when I had tough circumstances or had to face some bad new, just sitting down and listening to music left me feeling a little better and made it easier to get through those circumstances.
So if you experience a lot of emotional eating, or feel junk food cravings due to negative emotions, I recommend that you listen to music regularly to maintain a positive emotional state.
I’m sure you already have a lot of music that you enjoy or some sort of a music collection. However since I promised these resources will remain free I will share with you a few different services that offer free and legal music online.
Some of the services only allow you to either stream or listen to the music however with an Internet connection you can pretty much use all of them. Also some of the services are only available in certain countries due to copyright issues, so if for some reason one of the services doesn’t work in your country just try the next one.
Here is the list of free music services:
Shoutcast Radio: Over 50,000 free online radio stations
Pandora Internet Radio: An online radio/streaming music service that uses your song ratings to recommend other songs you might like
Audio Galaxy Internet Radio: An online radio/streaming music service that uses your song ratings to recommend other songs you might like
Spotify: An online music/streaming service that allows you to stream most popular songs/albums for free
YouTube Music: This is just the music/music videos section of youtube
Vevo Music Videos: This site contains lots of music videos
Now, onto the last resource…
Resource #7 is taking a 10-15 minute walk daily….
This sound so simple yet its so effective. However let me be more specific….this walk must be during your free time where you can be relaxed and really enjoy it. It cannot be your walk to work or rushing around a shopping mall etc.
Walking for 10-15 minutes, especially outside in nature, has a great soothing effect. It helps you clear your mind, it’s relaxing and it’s energizing. In fact many times when I’ve been annoyed, feeling crappy, or just bored I went for a walk, and by the end of my walk I was feeling much better…
If you stick to taking a 10-15 minute walk daily for the next 30 days, you’ll feel much better, your thinking will be a lot more clear and focused, and you’ll certainly notice an improvement in your eating habits.
