I have started the paleo lifestyle about 2 months ago and love it! It's a diet consisting of paleolithic foods (caveman era) like meat, fish, veggies, fruits, and nuts. I did awesome the first month and felt I would never stop. Within the past couple of weeks I had slipped up and ate some flour(in cookies of course). Now I crave grains all over again and its harder for me to have the motivation i had in the first month. I beat myself up over the two pieces of bread I ate and then eat a tortilla and cheese. When I get stressed I also eat far more than I need. Its so hard once you've started eating to stop. I feel hopeless as I have just been doing so well.

    Hi,

well in this forum you receive support about Be. In order to modify unhealthy eating patterns, the first thing to do is forget the guilt and start looking at our way of eating food and the quantities we eat in a more objective way. The black or white way of thinking is not a helpfull tool when you want to overcome BE, as we are not perfect, we need time to regulate our behaviour and thinking about food. When eating in a more intuitive way (taking into consideration the real needs of your body, not the tricks of your mind) will help you get in touch with your body again and gain control over BE. But one step at a time.

Would love to hear more from you.

Hi, I'm in the same boat. I recently became an advocate for Paleo and took up the new lifestyle. In the first month I was doing so good and I had never felt better. This past month I have struggled immensely. Here and there I'll pound some peanut butter, or almond butter. Also, ever other week or so I have a huge binge session where 'sweet things' just never fill me up and I continue to eat them. Complete carb domination. I had another attack today with pop tarts and 3 bowls of cereal. (first time to have milk and cereal in over 2 months!) Now of course I feel completely disgusted with myself, but I can't seem to kick this new habit. I was never like this before doing paleo. I'm a pretty active person and CrossFit is a love of mine, but I feel like paleo is making me obessed with myself which is causing me to eat more. I hate it! lol. Any recommendations? I work so hard at it and then snap, I fail it all in a single day. Help! lol

    Hi Smiley,

well, that seems the black or white attitude towards food I refered to. And that makes you binge because you deny your body certain foods. Have you tried eating all the type of foods you want in moderation, eating each 3-4 hours maximum (except during the night, sure) and listening to your body´s hunger signals? By the way, same about milk and other foods, made me binge again. You can check how bad my restrictive diet was for me at my forum

By the way, if you still haven´t your own journal, you can create it!
