Lost 40 lbs on Medifast then gained it all back. It's the same old story. I have no willpower. A candy bar, twinkies, fries, cake, cookies, chips whatever is bad for you I love and find hard to resist. If I go to CVS to pick up some medication for my children I can't resist buying 3, 4, 5 candy bars and downing them all before I get home. I find as I get older I feel even more hopeless. Now I've developed osteoarthritis and exercise can be painful for me. I work full time, single mom, 2 teens, a house and no social life to speak of. How do I break the cycle? How do I stop? I keep looking for that magic pill, that miracle cure. I've tried every diet pill I could afford, tried Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Atkins, and still the fat remains. Tried many over the counter diet pills, prescription diet pills, still the fat holds on me. I look like I'm pregnant but I'm not. I hate myself for being weak and hate my body even more. I'm 5'2" and now weigh 215. I'd love to meet someone but shy away because of my size. Help me someone. I can't afford therapy.

Hello fellow mom: Welcome to the forum. I hope you can find something useful and supportive by reading other posts and keeping us posted on your progress. Stick with us and I think you'll see some progress.
I suggest you check the CBT link (left column blue label 'CBT', then follow 'steps'). It gives a list of steps used in a type of psychological treatment called cognitive behavioral therapy. See if you think it will help you. Most of us find diets to actually perpetrate binges so we don't support them. Instead we support regular eating of normalish portions and no banning of any particular foods (e.g. no banning junk food). We also support putting a stop to regular emotional eating as a way to suppress negative feelings and thought). The blue links at the bottom of these webpages are also very helpful points by Andrew, and he'll even send you a free newsletter if you want.
Keep in touch for more help,

Hi, you know what, just get a journal or a private blog or something, and write all your feelings down. Then tackle them one by one. There are many tips and advice you can gather from these sites, but nothing beats your own readiness and your own actions. So it's time to show yourself you care and write down what's bothering you, followed by what you can do to tackle them. Make journalling a habit and it'll all come to you. When you're about to binge or when something's bothering you during the day, write it down at once.
Drink loads of water and take care

First things first- you're not weak willed!! Even if you have a strong will, the urge to binge doesn't come from the rational part of our mind. Will doesn't have all that much to do with it.
When you binge, even if you really don't want to be eating that food... some part of you DOES. You need to identify this! Ultra important. It will be emotions caused by something... perhaps depression, stress, anxiety... You might be feeling bad about your body, stressed about your life, sad about wanting to meet someone...
You have to deal with these emotions before the binging will stop. Your body makes you eat because it feels good while you're eating it. It wants to feel good, not sad!
Get control of your emotions and eating, and THEN focus on losing weight. It's important to get out there and talk to people! Call friends, go out once in a while, even if it's only once a week. Don't let binging stop you.
Perhaps you should go to a doctor - I did, and it's been a huge help. They give great advice and help you have loads of insight into what's happening. Even medication if you need it.
Good luck, remember - you CAN do this! It'll take time and effort but you will get there. Just be confident! Read all about BED, write a list of tips that you'll find helpful, keep a journal... and get out with some friends.
